performance space drawing by Lin Hixson
We Got A Date employs
rigorous movement in the processional mode, with the audience seated in long
rows facing one another, as at a parade. The action transpires down the middle,
at each end, and behind the spectators. With texts drawn from autobiographical
material 60 Minutes interviews, and the Army-McCarthy hearings, the
piece examines love and sexuality in contemporary society. We Got A Date
investigates the body as the site of power, and the systems and attitudes that
condition it.
